We Do

We looked at several EAP providers and chose to work with MYgroup. Our employees use their counseling services as part of our school’s EAP, either for personal reasons or as part of a formal referral. Our campus is close to MYgroup’s headquarters, so it’s easy for staff to go in person. Their offices are very comfortable, and the quality of their counselors is excellent. I went to see them myself for guidance and found the entire process effective and reassuring.

Beyond their EAP services, we recently started using MYgroup to help us make critical managerial hiring decisions. When we have a key position to fill, Dr. Young and his team administer a variety of personality and intelligence assessments to the top applicants. They also do additional interviews, and then Dr. Young comes to the school to review the findings and make a recommendation.

In terms of hiring, MYgroup has been instrumental in helping us make the right decisions. The insights they bring to the process remove some of the unknowns associated with filling a position, and, as a result, our management team is the strongest it’s ever been. On the EAP side, everyone from our groundskeepers to our senior staff use MYgroup to address and resolve a variety of personal and work-related issues.

With deep healthcare industry expertise and a nimble approach to delivering EAP services, MYgroup helped us quickly shift our support programs to an online format. Because our staff was already working long hours in the midst of a pandemic, while having to adjust to increased pressures at home, the ability to access support from anywhere helped people find time in their busy schedules to seek the confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services they needed. In addition, the privacy and confidentiality of MYgroup’s online platform helped establish the trust that professional caregivers sometimes need in order to seek help for themselves.

Healthcare systems are like small cities with a wide range of demographics and roles, and at CaroMont, we are constantly striving to ensure that everyone who works here has access to free, convenient, and confidential assessments, counseling, and support to help them cope with a variety of work-life issues that can affect their work performance. MYgroup has been an indispensable partner, and we appreciate their flexibility and professionalism in our efforts to support our employees during the current health crisis. When we take good care of our employees, we empower them to take even better care of our patients.

Whether coordinating fitness for duty evaluations or providing drug and alcohol counseling, MYgroup’s EAP provides the constant level of support our employees deserve. In addition, they supply us with a comprehensive set of informational materials that we need to educate our workers about the program, so we can put flyers up in every worksite and distribute brochures and wallet cards throughout the year. This helps us keep MYgroup’s counseling and work-life resources in front of our people at all times, and, as a result, it becomes ingrained.

City of Shelby employees are always out there giving a lot of themselves to the community, sometimes in very traumatic situations. At the same time, these employees need support and help themselves. MYgroup has helped us take care of the employee and their family, and, as a result, we can all help each other across department lines, like one big family. Our pay is lower than in the private sector, but the people who go to work for the government don’t do it for the pay. We work hard to make a difference in our city, and that’s why we need a responsive, capable 24/7/365 EAP.

I’ve been with Goodwill for 26 years, and we’ve worked with MYgroup for at least that long. In that time, their network of professional counselors has provided critical support for our staff and employees in times of crisis, as well as with everyday work and personal issues. We have approximately 765 employees, and their needs vary from person to person and the time of the year. Because it is a free, confidential service, the MYgroup EAP is a very effective way to support our team members.

Because we fund our mission through the retail business, the well-being of our employees is so important to the work that we do. We strive to recruit motivated, talented people who are passionate about their work, and the support that MYgroup provides has a positive impact on that mission. If our team members are happy and productive, that makes us stronger.

We started using MYgroup’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) as an extension to the services we provide at our on-campus counseling center. Thanks to MYgroup’s strong local network of community providers, our students can receive 1:1 counseling close to their home or workplace. To drive awareness of the counseling resources available to students, MYgroup provides us with EAP wallet cards that are discrete and easy to distribute. We also post their custom student-facing flyers in heavily trafficked areas on campus and at our annual health fair, MYgroup sets up a booth to educate students about the opportunities for counseling.

York Technical College opened its counseling center in 2011, and as students started responding and faculty starting making referrals, traffic really picked up. Now, thanks to our partnership with MYgroup, we can cost-effectively meet the needs of our campus with professional, long-term counselors. Our students appreciate the confidentiality that comes from meeting with a counselor close to home or work instead of on campus. Most importantly, however, MYgroup’s SAP has become a great retention tool by helping students overcome personal issues or work-life challenges and stay enrolled.

Previously, Charlotte Pipe and Foundry had an EAP partner that could not keep up with the growth spurt we were experiencing. We had five satellite plants and were adding a sixth one, all located in various parts of the country. We needed an EAP that had resources available to our employees, regardless of their location. MYgroup fit the bill. We also liked the experience level of the clinicians offered, the 24/7 service hours and the focus on confidentiality. We have been very impressed with the level of service we have received.

When we needed resources to give our managers ways to support their staff, we looked to MYgroup for training. Charlotte Pipe and Foundry selected “Recognizing a Troubled Employee” to provide our managers with skills to work with people in crisis and specific ways that we can help support each other. MYgroup was willing to customize the material for us. They took the time beforehand to understand our unique needs and adjusted the content accordingly. MYgroup also worked closely with us to match their skilled facilitator to our audience here at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. All of this effort to make sure we had what we needed went a long way with us. We truly consider MYgroup to be one of our most valuable partners.

In terms of living out our culture of putting people first, MYgroup has given us many important tools. The EAP is always there for our team, and we rely on it to give our people the support they need. MYgroup helps us normalize the conversation around mental health and helps equip us with resources to support each other. Specifically, the training sessions we have recently added have empowered us to know what to look for and what we can do to help. And, when we need more help, we know MYgroup is there for us and has the resources and support we need.

We used MYgroup’s leadership assessment and development process to help us identify high-potential employees at the manager level who exhibit the kind of strong leadership abilities that are critical to the continued success of Glen Raven. During the assessment phase, MYgroup used a variety of psychometric tools to establish a baseline for the participants. Then, building on those results, Dr. Young and his team created a customized leadership development approach for each candidate based on their needs, talents, and potential.

Thanks to the 1:1 coaching and on-site classes, we have had a very positive response to the ongoing leadership assessment and development process. Our people see their company investing in them, and they respond with enthusiasm and loyalty. MYgroup’s full continuum of leadership development solutions have helped us identify and cultivate the future leaders of Glen Raven, which bodes well for the continued success of our 136-year-old company.

We have used MYgroup as our EAP provider for several years, and in that time, they have provided a responsive, professional level of counseling to our employees. Support is only a phone call away, and our people appreciate the confidentiality of the counseling and the fact that it is a free benefit of working at NGK. We are able to keep the EAP services top of mind at our company, thanks to the informational materials that MYgroup provides as well as their robust online presence. Employee engagement surveys are another area of MYgroup’s expertise, and we recently began a company-wide survey process to better understand internal opinion around the current leadership, company goals, and any potential sources of frustration for our workers.

Employees seem to really value the fact that their job comes with free confidential counseling, and our EAP serves as a good recruiting and retention tool. We have finished with our first round of employee engagement surveys, and now, Dr. Young and our company president are leading meetings with all of our employees (30+ meetings across all four shifts) to review the findings, benchmark opinions, and then prioritize action items.
